Applied Medical Physics in Radiology, Inc. has contracted with Main Sail, a computer IT company that will soon allow our clients to log onto our web site and access their reports. Each client will have their own client name and password. You will then be able to view organized folder of reports generated by our Medical Physicists or documents that you have loaded for on-line review. The system is safe and secure for all users. No need for hardcopy reports. Your data is accessible to you from any on-line computer at all times.

Spring 2014

Effective July 1, 2014, The Joint Commission has now expanded its requirements for Hospitals and Critical Access Hospitals to have a “qualified Diagnostic Medical Physicist perform annual evaluations of all imaging … equipment” that includes:
  • MRI
  • PET
  • CT
  • Gamma Cameras
  • PET/CT
These new requirements include the addition of any new imaging equipment or replacement of existing units.
(JC Environment of Care, Standards, and Provision of Care EC.02.01.01 – PI.02.01.01).

"At least annually... the performance tests should be performed on all units. Qualified practicing medical physicist... may do the performance tests... and must be reviewed by the qualified medical physicist and documented in the report." (ACR.org, 2012)

Joint Commission

Recently, The Joint Commission has revised its requirements for Diagnostic Imaging Services that include Computerized Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single Photon Emission Tomography (SPECT). They now require annual testing that falls closely in line with the American College of Radiology (ACR) testing. "At least annually, a Diagnostic Medical Physicist conducts a performance evaluation of all.....imaging equipment". Please check the Revised Requirements for each of the imaging modalities at your locations as there are variations to each portion for that modality.
